I don’t mean to sound cliché, but USGD has truly had an impact on my life, and I would like to share why.

I joined USGD by happenstance. They needed a Director of Marketing and I just happened to have a little experience.

I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Every single member of USGD has a specific passion. They each have that one thing they fight for.

That’s what makes USGD so great. It’s a group of people who come together to fight for important causes.

And as much as I love everyone I work with, they aren’t the only people with passions.

I was amazed as I watched my coworkers fight everyday for an array of beliefs, some of which they didn’t even personally believe in.

I had no idea what I was getting myself into, because I had the idea that we would all be advocating for our own ideals. I was wrong: USGD isn’t an organization that fights for our beliefs. We are an organization that fights for your beliefs.

We are representatives who are working to make ASU a better school, a better campus and a better community. But we aren’t using our own ideas. We are using yours.

As the Director of Marketing, I had the pleasure of interacting with students on a weekly basis.

I have met so many amazing people through my position and each one of them had their own dreams and beliefs to fight for.

And that’s our job. To advocate for your dreams and beliefs.

But here’s another thing I learned: we can’t advocate for beliefs that we don’t know exist. I cannot stress the importance of getting involved enough.

If you are passionate about something, and most of us are, then tell someone. ASU has a multitude of clubs and organizations that advocate. You don’t have to tell USGD; I mean, we would love to help you, but get involved any way that you can.

There is strength in numbers, so utilize advocacy clubs. Get involved and make a change!
