Hand PitchforkKate McCulley is an intern for USGD under the vice president of services. Kate is a junior kinesiology major through the College of Health Solutions. She aspires to be a pharmacist and plans to apply to pharmacy school in the fall of 2017.

She previously attended Rockhurst University where she was a member of Theta Phi Alpha Fraternity and the Division II volleyball program. She likes to spend her free time outside of class working out at Crossfit, exploring Phoenix and Tempe and spending time with her family and friends.

Hand PitchforkLeah Nakaima is a sophomore at the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University majoring in public health, minoring in public service and public policy, and earning two certificates, one in applied business data analytics and the other in public administration and public management. Leah is also a Ugandan native. 

She is currently working on a project called Pennet Enterprises where she hopes to reduce poverty and unemployment among Ugandan youths by engaging them in creative tasks. Through her internship with the health solution senators of Undergraduate Student Government Downtown, she is designing an international student club where she hopes to increase cultural awareness among students at ASU.

As a health solution senator, Leah hopes to become an ambassador of the faculty to both public and internal audiences and enhance student’s experiences within the university and communities through research, legislation and advocacy, in accordance with the core values of the great ASU institution.

IMG_1415.jpgFreshly flown in from California, transfer student Serena O’Sullivan is making the most of her first semester at ASU. She writes opinion columns for the ASU State Press and works as a news anchor for Blaze Radio’s Press Pass.

The public relations intern hopes to put her writing and editing experience to good use while working for Undergraduate Student Government Downtown.

Hand PitchforkKimberly is an Arizona native and a freshman at ASU. She’s currently in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and is seeking to major in journalism and mass communication with an emphasis on print/publication. After graduating, Kim hopes to eventually write for a major newspaper or magazine.

She currently serves as an intern for USGD and loves every second of it. Prior to attending ASU, Kim served for her high school’s student government all four years and was member of the yearbook.

In her free time, Kim enjoys jamming out to music, taking BuzzFeed quizzes and spending time with her friends. She hopes to put her ideas and talents to good use as a USGD intern by bettering the daily lives of ASU students and can’t wait to see what the future has in store.

IMG_1429Aly Perkins is a freshman studying Public Service and Public Policy. She has been an intern in the policy department since February 2017. Outside of USGD, Aly works with state legislators as a page at the Arizona State Senate. Additionally, Aly is a proud member of Barrett, The Honors College and an active participant in the Barrett Leadership and Service Team Downtown (BLAST’D). In her free time, she enjoys exploring Phoenix, trying new coffee shops, drawing and going to concerts. Aly is looking forward to participating in USGD for the next three years.
